League Cup Final
New Quay 1 v 2 St Dogmaels
St Dogmaels have beaten New Quay in the Easter Monday League Cup Final in remarkably similar circumstances to their triumph over Cardigan a year ago.
Just like last year, their opposition had started the game more brightly but after ten minutes, a free kick was fumbled by New Quay keeper
Damian Thomas leaving Jerry Williams to tap in the opening goal.
Minutes later, Thomas redeemed himself with a full stretch save to deny the Saints a second.

With the wind in their favour, any New Quay attacks were easily swept up by man of the match Steve Blackford and his defensive team mates. Although the award was given to Blackford alone, the accolade could just as easily been shared between the Saints defensive unit. They were excellent and, after a 90 minutes of very few clear cut chances, were the main difference between the two teams.

In a more eventful second half
New Quay pressed again but failed to create any real chances. But after ten minutes of pressure, it was Saints who created the best opportunity only to see their goal correctly ruled out for offside.
After 63 minutes,
a coming together in midfield saw tempers frayed resulting in Dan Bellis of St Dogmaels being red carded. Jason Thomas of New Quay was yellow carded for the same incident.
With their man advantage, New Quay threw on Charlie Dent to add strength to their attack at the expense of midfielder Gareth Evans. With the change came New Quay's best spell of the match. A good shot from Craig Richardson was well saved and Chris Atkinson hit the bar. Shortly afterwards, and with just seven minutes left, Charlie Dent found a yard of space on the edge of the box and finished powerfully in to the bottom left corner to level the scores.
St Dogmaels lift the trophy
With the recent pressure from New Quay
and a man advantage, the writing was on the wall for St Dogmaels.
But, with just two minutes left, they forced a corner and Adam Williams bundled home from all of a yard to win the cup for the Saints. How much he knew about the goal is debatable but it matters little.
There was no way back for New Quay and the trophy will stay with St Dogmaels for another year.
